Maria Lynn Releases New Indie Pop Single, “Why Do I,” Depicting Her Inner Struggle with Toxic Relationships

New York, NY (May 14, 2021) - New Jersey-based indie pop artist Maria Lynn has released her newest single “Why Do I.” This marks the rising singer’s first solo single of 2021, as well as her latest release since the premiere of her first full-length album Lost and Found in summer of 2020. Known for her hard-hitting melodies and impressive vocal range, this heart wrenching record shares Maria’s inner conflict with mental health and toxic relationships.

The emotional lyrics of “Why Do I” blend smoothly into a prominent piano ballad featuring the work of platinum producer Jared Lee. The song starts out elegantly simple and then builds out into an enchanting soundscape graced by Maria’s luscious alto, subtle harmonies, and a catchy percussive beat. The underlying snare and drum patterns bring depth to the composition as she ponders her internal conflicts with depression, self-love, and the struggles she faced separating from an unhealthy relationship.

Maria sings, “Why do I stay so busy loving someone other than myself / Pledge allegiance to my future, but my past keeps coming out / Walk on tightropes over cities too high up to hear your sounds / Why Do I, Why Do I.”

Her honest and raw chorus is accompanied by verses that expose listeners to the tumultuous journey she battled within. She highlights the aspects of being in love with a toxic person, the difficulty of fighting this intensely inescapable relationship, and the toll it took on her mental health. Her vulnerable story carries a message that is both mournful and relatable to her audience.

“This song was an honest representation of my journey of finding my center of happiness,” says Maria Lynn. “I hope this song can give anyone going through a tough time the strength to continue moving forward in a positive direction because at the end of a storm there is always sunlight.”

Maria Lynn’s new single, “Why Do I” is available now on all digital streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube music, and more.
